Riverside Renewables Exploring Renewable Diesel Refinery in Pacific Northwest

$500M investment to create 800 construction jobs and 130 permanent jobs

Reduced carbon emissions from the refinery’s output is equivalent to removing 300,000 cars from the road annually, or 10% of automobile emissions in WA

HOUSTON, TEXAS, May 8, 2017 – Riverside Renewables, LLC is pleased to announce it is exploring the development of a renewable diesel refinery in Cowlitz County, Washington. The project represents a $500 million investment in a 150 million gallon per year refinery to supply much sought after renewable fuels to customers on the West Coast of the U.S., replacing fossil fuel-based diesel. The facility is expected to create over 800 jobs during construction and another 130 full-time permanent higher family wages jobs during operations.

Riverside Renewables has begun studying the feasibility of the project with local, state and regional stakeholders to ensure the refinery meets the future clean fuels mandates established under state and federal laws. Construction could commence in late 2018 with completion expected two years later. Riverside Renewable is also examining the possibility of partnering with a Liquid Petroleum Gas (“LPG”) provider for a transfer terminal at their location. Mike Karnofski, of the Cowlitz Economic Development Council, stated, “I look forward to a significant investment in biofuels to diversify our local economy and bring much-needed jobs.”

Renewable diesel enjoys 70% lower greenhouse gas emissions than the fuel it replaces, exceeds the Low Carbon Fuel Standards of Oregon, California and British Columbia, and will help Washington State meet its clean transportation fuel goals. The reduced carbon emissions from the refinery’s output is equivalent to removing 300,000 cars from the road annually, or roughly 10% of the automobile emissions in Washington State.

Renewable diesel is a second generation advanced biofuel made from 100% renewable used and virgin seed oils.   Renewable diesel is known as a “drop-in” replacement fuel because it can directly replace petroleum-based diesel, at blends up to 100%, in all vehicles using regular diesel.

About Riverside: Riverside Renewable LLC is a private company based in Houston Texas focused on developing clean fuels throughout North America. The Company’s owners and partners include diversified businesses serving the fuel needs of consumers worldwide.
